Dorothy McPherson is the co-founder and CEO of Progressive Home Health & Hospice. Born in Kenya, Dorothy moved to the United States in her early 20s to pursue her education. She initially graduated in 1989 with a degree in nursing, laying the groundwork for her impactful career in healthcare. Recognizing the importance of strong business acumen in leading a healthcare organization, Dorothy returned to school to earn a business degree, further blending her clinical expertise with strategic leadership skills.

Her extensive clinical experience spans intensive care, medical-surgical nursing, and community nursing, including home health. It was through this diverse exposure that Dorothy found her true calling in hospice and palliative care, identifying these specialties as her areas of expertise. Complementing her clinical and business qualifications, Dorothy is also a certified leadership coach with the John Maxwell team, which has significantly enhanced her leadership style and effectiveness.

In 1995, driven by a vision to provide compassionate and comprehensive care, Dorothy and her husband, Shawn McPherson, founded Progressive Home Health & Hospice. Under her leadership, the company grew from a small startup to a prominent healthcare provider with multiple branches across Kansas and one in Nebraska. Throughout her career, Dorothy has been recognized with various awards for her contributions to the community as a healthcare leader. Her dedication to enhancing patient care and community health has made a lasting impact.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dorothy navigated the company through significant challenges, including the decision to sell most of the branches to focus on core operations and maintain the quality of care.

Shawn McPherson, co-founder of Progressive Home Health & Hospice, serves as the Finance Director and Chief Information Officer. His expertise in IT and finance has been instrumental in the company’s development, integrating cutting-edge technology to streamline operations and enhance patient care. Shawn’s role has been crucial in supporting the company's growth and ensuring its competitive edge in the healthcare industry.

Together, Dorothy and Shawn McPherson have built a company that is not only a successful business but also a vital community resource, emphasizing high-quality care and the dignity of every patient they serve.
