Like everyone else, grandmothers need to feel safe and protected. Every grandma needs to keep her independence for as long as possible. If your grandmother wants to age in place, make sure she has everything she needs to stay safely in her home. This may include daily assistance with grocery shopping or doctor’s appointments, a caregiver, or home health care.
Also, every grandma needs good sleep and proper nutrition. A healthy diet can prevent common chronic diseases and bone fractures in the elderly. A diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and high fiber varieties, thoroughly cooked lean meat and fish, and low-fat or fat-free dairy can keep your grandma healthy and energized.
In addition, every grandma needs to spend time with her family and friends, engage in social life in her community, and stay physically active for as long as possible.
